In September 2016, Hanova’s secondary students were introduced to three more universities: Washington & Jefferson College, University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, and the College of Wooster.
The International Day of Peace, also known as Peace Day, was established by two United Nations Resolutions in 1981 and 2001. Each year, hundreds of students take part in a student observance of Peace Day at the United Nations. In September 2016, Hanova’s Primary students began their Reading Buddy sessions – which are designed to encourage reading, speaking & listening skills. The initial Buddy meetings focused on “getting to know you buddy activities” and sharing books.
We have made a fabulous start to the new academic year in Secondary School, bringing back several awards from last week’s MUN conference, organized in Shanghai by the prestigious Yale University. On Friday, 3rd June, Hanova’s Secondary students proudly presented an original drama production – “Can You Hear Us? A Refugee Story.” The students acted out a dramatic collection of refugee stories from around the world.
On Friday, 20th May, Hanova held its fourth annual graduation ceremony for the Year 13 class. The ceremony was attended by the Secondary student body and was followed by a reception to celebrate this life achievement.
On Friday 29th April, Hanova celebrated International Day, to show international mindedness and to recognize all the different nationalities and cultures present in our school. Students, staff, parents and members of the community enjoyed a full day of activities, food and fun!
On 23 April, 2016, Hanova’s MYP students visited the XHIS campus to compete in a community sports day. Our students put on an outstanding performance in many events, including the long jump, frisbee throw, track sprints and relays and a football game.
On Tuesday 19th April, Hanova’s students competed in a schoolwide sports day – designed to allow all the students to win points for their houses. After being rained out on 15th April, we enjoyed beautiful weather and a day full of good competition and great sportsmanship!
