Dear Parents and Friends,
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your support and enthusiastic response to our communications effort. A significant number of parents have attended the PYP Information Day, with then visits in the various classrooms, to meet the teachers and learn about the curriculum and the students’ routines. We will thus continue to increase the information events to students and parents, and we continue to invite you to meet any of us in school at your earliest convenience. Thank you also for your patience, related to the current transportation difficulties that students and parents experience between the main gate and our school: the school is working proactively to resolve this issue, and will keep you as informed as possible. In the mean time we have increased the supervision from our school staff to escort the students between the main gate and our school doors.
IB DP Information Day. This year, Year 12 will become our first cohort of IB Diploma Programme students, graduating in 2017. It is a huge challenge for the entire school – teachers, students and parents – to ensure very successful results. We would like then to invite all parents of Year 12 and Year 13 to an information session at 3.45pm on Wednesday, 16th September, that will take place in the IB Common Room on the 3rd floor.
MYP Personal Projects. Year 11 students will soon start their Personal Project journey, submitting their proposals to members of staff by the end of next week. A core part of the MYP Programme, the Personal Project is a major part of the final MYP assessment, and Year 11 students are expected to complete it by 3rd March 2016, with progress monitored via Managebac.
First Hanova College Fair. This year the school will host many more universities, to better support our Secondary students choosing their career, their future universities and their study subjects in our school. We are delighted inform you that Hanova will host its first small college fair on 11th September at 2:00pm in the Auditorium. The following American Universities will present on campus: University of Puget Sound, Colgate University, Rhodes College and Gettysburg College. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend, since it will be a great opportunity for both students and parents to communicate face to face with the university admission officers.
First Block of after-school Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs). As anticipated, the first block of our after-school ECA Programme will begin soon. A wide variety of activities will run from 3:50pm to 4:50pm and buses will leave Hanova one hour later than usual, because we expect students to participate in ECAs. The ECA form has been sent to all students and parents: please select the 3 preferred activities and return all forms by Monday September 7th at the latest. Detail will follow early next week on all selected activities and logistics.
