Hanova PYP “Reading Buddies”
Last week, we commenced our “reading buddy” program at Hanova within the PYP and this will run every three weeks. Younger and older students are paired up for reading together throughout the school year.

hank you parents for your participation in our “Meet the Teacher” event held on Thursday.It was great to welcome over 100 parents into the classrooms to meet with the teachers and discuss the learning of their child/children.
On Friday April 20th, our Inter-house Sports Day was a great success. In the end the weather was kind to us and all the children had fun.
Last Friday saw the introduction of a new sport at Hanova – archery. Under the watchful eye of our Athletic Director, Mr. Lynn, the IB Diploma students in Years 12 and 13 learned how to construct their bows, observe safety measures and had their first target practice. It was a lot of fun and leading the pack so far are Kai Trull, Rose Jiang and Leo Hu.
Last Friday 27th at 4pm our Secondary Basketball team began its season, with a match against XHIS. This is a new young team, after Hanova lost almost the whole previous team due to graduation and relocation.
Our Primary football team started their season full of excitement and commitment. The team also has new players, who are bringing a lot of energy into the practices. Last Friday 20th at 3pm the team played their first friendly game against the Primary Football Club of Bodi School.
On Monday and Tuesday this week our IB PYP Authorisation Visit was completed. We hosted Mrs. Rima Singh and Mrs. Patricia Whatarau, as representatives from the IBO who visited classes, spoke with teachers, parents and students, viewed necessary planning and documentation to ensure our Primary section and the overall school are meeting the requirements of the IB PYP Standards and Practices.
This year our Year 4 and 5 had an exciting 2 days camping experience at Jing Yu Hu (鲸鱼湖) Whale Lake Xi’an city, in Ba Qiao district. Students had the opportunity to be risk-takers and sleep in tents. They actually did an amazing job in putting up their tents all by themselves!
