Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome back! We start now the Second Semester of this Academic Year, with the next Festive Season arriving with the Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival celebrations. Hereafter the news for this first school week in 2018.
Back to School 2018. Happy New Year to all families, from our Primary and Secondary teams and from all our office Staff. Welcome to Semester 2 of this academic year! Students have settled back into school with ease and are happy to see their friends again.
Secondary School Awards Assembly. On Friday 15th December the Secondary School hosted a Celebration Assembly. Thank you so much to all the parents who came to see the wonderful presentations of our students. We saw the high quality of work being produced in both the MYP and DP. Special thanks also to all the teachers and staff who have made this possible.
We are very proud of the numerous students who received awards for excellent academic achievement in the First Semester.
Primary News. In our PYP Programme, this week is the beginning of Unit of Inquiry 4 (Unit 3 for the Nursery / Reception class) and there is a lot of exciting activity in classes as ideas are introduced, questions are encouraged and exploration begins.
This January will a busy month, as we all prepare for Chinese New Year and the primary Parent Teacher Interviews, which will be held on the afternoons of January 30th and 31st and where you will have the opportunity to discuss your child(ren)’s progress with their teacher. More information on this will be sent home soon.
Also, a short report covering Unit of Inquiry 3 and the January assessments will be given out at the end of January.
Our First International Award. our first group of award participants in 2016. Those students completed their Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, and Adventurous Journey sections to receive their Award accordingly.
Hanova provides a rigorous Award organization and support system with advices and support from well-trained teachers. There are professional assessors and supervisors to assess the participation time requirements and degree in order to help students to gain the Award.
The International Award is the world’s leading achievement award to develop youth leadership. It is voluntary, non-competitive and available to anyone aged 14-24. For more information, please contact our Award Leader, Ms. Hou ( firstname.lastname@example.org ).
ECA Block Two. We will transition soon to the second block of ECAs.
In Primary, ECAs for Block one will finish on Wednesday January 24th and begin again after the CNY Break on Wednesday February 28th and run until 30th May. In Secondary, ECAs for Block two, with the new activities, will start already on January 31st.
Secondary Swimming. This week we were informed that due to maintenance, the pool used for the Secondary swimming programme is currently closed. This swimming programme is then suspended until January 22nd.
